Planning Advice

How to Choose a Destination for 2–3 Days

When you only have a Friday night to Sunday evening, destination choice is really a logistics game. We love Rome and London, but if you spend three hours on a shuttle bus just getting to your hotel, half your weekend vanishes before your first coffee.

The secret is keeping transit under 40 minutes at both ends. Look for cities with direct rail connections straight from the arrivals terminal to the central train station.

Factor 01

Airport Proximity

Cities like Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Geneva and Nice put you in the city center within 15 to 25 minutes. Avoid airports located 70km out in secondary regions.

Factor 02

Walkability Quotient

If you need three bus transfers to get between the historic center and dinner, choose elsewhere. The best weekend towns can be walked from end to end in 35 minutes.

Factor 03

Focus on One Neighborhood

Do not try to conquer a whole country in 48 hours. Pick one vibrant quarter, book a local hotel nearby, and treat that small corner of Europe as your home base.
